Who am I and why did I create this course?

My career has moved from sales and business management into fall and injury prevention. With each passing year I learned more and more about how people want to live their lives. I've obtained three certifications in accessibility allowing me to assess residential, commercial and public spaces. This led me deeper into the mechanics of making our environments work more efficiently in terms of how we interact with the individual spaces and expend our energy however at the same time, understanding that contractors, designers and architects aren't taught how to make this happen in college or university. The technologies and techniques are out there but the average homeowner has no idea where to look. What usually happens is that someone has an accident and isn't allowed home from rehab until they have an entrance and bathroom they can use safely. Alternatively, a progressive disease makes a cherished home unsuitable. Safety, independence and dignity are of the utmost importance and our homes have to provide that for us in order to avoid the assisted living environment that most of us don't want. Let's face it, a home that has no stairs and wider doors is beneficial to young families as well. Until we have homes that are more suited to our needs, we are left with modifying the homes we have so that we can remain in our homes and in our familiar communities. I want to do that and I know that you do, too. That is why I created this course.
